I posted a DIY Bird Feeder my husband and oldest son made about a month ago. Well, since then, my husband and I joke that we may have to begin adding bird seed into our monthly budget, as sometimes we are filling our feeder two or three times a week! The birds in our area are eating like they haven’t seen food in months. My sons daily eat breakfast with their new friends and love watching them. A few weeks ago when our bird feeder was empty, I decided to make a secondary bird feeder to hang in our trees. My boys along with their sweet neighbor friend, each made their own bird feeder to hang in the trees. This is a great project for kids to make on their own with simple direction and guidance; in total it only took about 5 minutes.
Materials:
- Bird Seed
- Pine Cone
- Peanut Butter
- Plastic Knife/Spreader (child-safe)
- String or Yarn
Directions:
1. Tie a piece of string or yarn to the pine cone.
2. Spread peanut butter on the pine cone, creating a sticky coating.
3. Roll the pine cone in bird seed, shake any loose seed off, then roll in the seed a final time.
