A Mom's Solution to an EASY {No Scrub} Microwave Cleaning

  • Medium-sized bowl(microwave safe)
  • 3-4 cups of Warm Water
  • 1 TBSP Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 cup Distilled Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda

cleaning your microwave

1. Combine all the ingredients into the bowl. Stir well.

2. Remove any metal shelves etc. from microwave. Keep the rotating tray at the bottom to hold the bowl.(This is just simply for easy cleaning afterwards.)

2. Place the bowl into your microwave for 10 minutes on the cook setting.

3. Carefully remove the bowl with pot holders, as the bowl will be very hot. Remove the bottom tray and place in the sink to clean.

4. Take a slightly damp paper towel or wash cloth and wipe off all the ‘gunk’ and water. Use a towel to finish drying the microwave.

Amazing right!? Everything came right off with just a gentle wipe! Now you will never need to scrap or pick crusted food off your microwave EVER AGAIN!

  3. Heather Henry says:

Just tried this out on my microwave (thanks to your mom for sharing the link on Facebook) and it worked perfectly!! Now, if I could just get my husband to remember to use a paper towel over things when he microwaves!!! :)

  4. Had tried with just vinegar in a cup before for less time which doesn’t seem to work brilliantly so will definitely give this a go

  5. Ok you solved my missing laundry sock problem… now this!? You are awesome!! Pinned!!

  6. Seriously – I’ve tried the microwaving water and vinegar, just water.. numerous things. Never thought to add baking soda. I didn’t have the lemon, so I omitted that. Micro’d for the 10 minutes on high and holy crap! It worked! Having two tween girls and a hubby who don’t cover their food, I really, really expected to scrub. Not with this mix, it all just wiped off! I am impressed! Thank you for this!

  7. A heart felt thank you. God bless and may you have many more awesome ideas.
