White or Wheat? As a child, white bread was what I ate at Grandma’s house and wheat bread was what I ate at home. I don’t really remember thinking anything about it or prefering one of the other. As I grew up I remember somehow learning along the way that wheat bread was somehow the ‘healthier option’ and better for you… so I went with it, and always ordered and bought wheat bread.

Now that a new school year is in full swing, our family decided to create a fun, kid-approved lunchbox sandwich using Wonder bread’s Smartwhite for Kids. We created a healthy alternative to your child’s beloved Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich with a Fun, Fall Sandwich that is sure to requested again and again!
Peanut Butter Apple Crunch Sandwich
- Wonder bread’s: Smartwhite for Kids
- Apples (thin slices; If you or your child won’t be eating the sandwich within a few hours, you can toss the apples in a few drops of lemon juice before placing them on the sandwich to prevent browning.)
- Peanut Butter
- Cinnamon *optional
1. Spread a layer of peanut butter on a piece of Smartwhite for Kids bread.
2. Lay slices of apples on top of the peanut butter. Drizzle apples honey.
*(Optional: Sprinkle a little cinnamon over the honey.)
3. Place your second piece of bread on top. Slice the sandwich in half.
4. Store in a sandwich containter or a ziploc bag.
This is a great Fall sandwich/snack for your child’s lunchbox, a snack at the park, for a playdate, or even just for a fun, healthy lunch at home!
