Baby’s First Year Calendar (iphoto)

As both of our boys approached their first birthday I anticipated being able to finish, print-out, and share their calendars. This has definitely been one of my FAVORITE “memory savers” I have done for our boys.

I saw this idea a little over three years ago using an old calendar where you could cut and glue a few photos at the top. As I made a mental “pinterest” of this idea, I discovered the ability to make your own calendars in iphoto. I played around with the idea of making a calendar for my first son’s first year of life and the more I played around, the more I got excited about the idea. I began his calendar within the first week of his birth and finished with the month of his first birthday.

To Create an iphoto Baby’s First Year Calendar:

1. Click the Create button at the bottom of iPhoto, then click on Calendar.

2. Select the style you prefer, click Create, then begin to personalize your calendar. *Remember to create a 13 month calendar that way you can go from the day the child was born to the day of his/her first birthday!

3. Personalize your calendar. We created a monthly collage at the top and then recorded special events, all of their “firsts”, funny things they did, wellness visit stats, etc. The only unfortunate part of the project is that you can not save the project. You may want to either pray your iphoto doesn’t crash throughout the year and or occasionally print out the pages. (If use MobileMe, by Apple, but you have to subscribe in order to use it.)

4. When you are completely finished you simply click Buy Calendar at the bottom to order. They will ship you the calendar in about 7 days and the cost is around $32.00.

I have had so much positive feedbacks from the people I have shown it to. It takes time to make (over a year), but it is well worth the time. Having the first years and memories recorded for both our boys in the calendar format makes it easy to go back and reminisce about their first year.
