A Day Out With Thomas
Grapevine, Texas is a beautiful city located just between Dallas and Ft. Worth; just a few miles from DFW Airport. The city’s Main Street is lined with cute little shops and boutiques, a farmer’s market in the park, and on this day a lot of Thomas action taking place at The Grapevine Vintage Railroad.
As we arrived at The Grapevine Vintage Railroad, we were greeted by Thomas who was awaiting his next passengers. Admission to A Day with Thomas was free, with Thomas the Train ticket rides (around $14 a person for ages 2 and older).
My sons were given a map to follow to different locations where they collected stamps at each station in order to redeem a prize (after all stations were visited)!
There were SO many fun activities for children and their families to enjoy together: a giant sandbox area,
miniature train rides,
an inflatable Thomas bounce house and slide,
an opportunity to help a blacksmith pump the billows (historic Grapevine provided many historic experiences like this one),
Mega Blok train building stations,
model trains,
a tent of train tables, coloring tables, and puzzles,
sing-a-longs and magic shows,
and picture opps with Sir Topham Hat!
But, we saved the BEST for last… the Thomas the Train Ride!
It was boarding time!
This was the moment my oldest son had been anticipating for days.
We gave our tickets to the conductor,
waved goodbye to all the other Thomas fans and left the station.
The 30 minute train ride was filled with waving to onlookers, singing along to Thomas music, and lots of questions from our inquisitive toddler. Our little guys even received Jr. Conductor Certificates from the conductor!
Best of all, Thomas agreed to let us get our picture taken with him on his tracks after our train ride!
WHEW! What a wonderful day! Our two little guys were out before we pulled out of Grapevine!
As a family, we would highly recommended A Day Out With Thomas to anyone with children interested in Thomas or trains in general. It was truly a wonderful experience.
Thank you Grapevine Vintage Railroad and Thomas the Train
for a special day that we will never forget!

Great photos, love the one of them sleeping at the end.
This brought back so many memories. I had Thomas lovers when my boys were younger, too. We got to visit Thomas way back when. Thanks for the ride down memory lane.
How fun! I’m hoping to be able to take my boys this year.
Stopping by from Better Mom Monday!
Missy,
Hope you get a chance to go; it was a lot of fun!
We wanted to go, but the closest one to us was several hours away and it was raining. We have such a Thomas fanatic here!
You have to go when you get a chance! It was SO much fun; we ALL enjoyed the day!
How much time would you allow for the whole event?
Danica- I would allow about 4-5 hours. There are tons of activities, food options, etc. It’s a lot of fun, let me know if you have any other questions!
