This past weekend we visited my husband’s sister and her husband for a very fun ‘Gender Reveal Party’ for their first baby! This was the first time I had been to a ‘Gender Reveal’ party. The week prior, at their ultrasound, they asked that the gender be sealed in an envelope and not revealed to them. They then took the envelope to a local baker and had them bake a cake that would ‘reveal’ the gender when they cut into it; pink for a girl or blue for a boy. I can’t imagine how they felt all week waiting and anticipating cutting into their cake! What a fun and exciting way to find out the gender of your baby; and everyone there loved being able to share in this special moment with them! So special and so clever!
My Sister-in-Law was so gracious is sharing some of her great ideas with Cheerios and Lattes readers; I know you will love them!
Guests were asked to wear blue or pink to display their gender prediction. They were also asked to choose a name for the baby and write it on either a blue car or a pink dress and wear it all evening.
(Big Brother wore a blue car with the name ‘Moses Robert’ on it; he has been certain his Aunt was going to have a boy and Moses Robert has been his chosen name for his cousin for over a month!
)
‘He or She’ Hershey Bars were given out to guests as favors.
The house was decorated in pink and blue. Click Here for directions on how to make these Pom-Pom Tissue Balls.
The beginnings of the dessert and drink table. Pink and Blue M&M’s were in the tool bags.
The cake! How stinking cute is that… the baby’s head is tucked inside ‘eating’ the cake!
(I have to admit I wanted so badly to poke my finger in the back to find out as soon as I saw it… don’t worry I didn’t! I know, I know, I am so impatient!
)
Yay! It’s a boy! Both were very excited and will be great parents! They are going to love being parents to a little boy!
Congratulations; we can’t wait to meet “Moses” in December! No pressure on the name…

What a fun idea! I’m supposed to find out what we’re having during a time in my husband’s deployment where we won’t have contact. After seeing this great idea I think I want to have a gender reveal party at a point when he can Skype with us and we can find out together!!
