This past weekend, our family was invited to tour the Carnival Cruise Ship Magic on Galveston Island, Texas. I was the only one who in our family who had been on cruise before and I couldn’t wait for my husband and boys to get a look around the ship! When I was in high school our dance team competed in a national dance competition on the Carnival Cruise Ship Celebration. It was so much fun and as a teenager I felt there was so much to explore and do on the ship but I couldn’t really remember any ‘kid- friendly’ activities, so I was curious to see a whole new side to Carnival Cruises.
I admit, the thought of whether a cruise could possibly keep my little ones entertained for an entire week on a ship crossed my mind many times when I thought about what a family vacation would be like on a cruise ship. However, as soon as we boarded the ship and were greeted with the Camp Carnival Staff passing our drawstring backpacks filled with sunglasses, a flashlight, and tons of other great gifts for all the blogger’s kids I knew our kids were in for a great day!
While the moms ‘got down to business’ and got to hear all about the kid-friendly and family friendly options available on the ship, our husbands and kids got to choose their destination to play! My husband and boys went immediately to the top deck and played on the water slides and splash pad areas. We later went on a family photo scavenger hunt around the ship (fingers crossed) hoping to win a family cruise! How great would that be!?
(Click on the pictures above to see more of our scavenger hunt!)
(Water Works play area; our boys LOVED having this play area to themselves before passengers began boarding!)

(My husband on the high ropes course around the top deck! He earned a trophy that the workers gave to our boys!)
(The boys loving the Sports Court area!)
Sounds awesome right!? That is exactly why we did NOT want to get off the ship as they were getting ready to head out to sea! Our boys have already asked to go back and play on the ‘big boat’, and my husband and I can’t wait until we can take a family cruise together sometime hopefully in the near future!
(Seaside Theatre area; perfect for family swim-in movies! The new ‘cruisers’ for the week were just beginning to board.)
(Playing mini golf in the Game Area.)
(We had a fantastic lunch in the dining room with the other bloggers and their families who attended. We even had a little entertainment at the end!)
Carnival Cruises have proven to be VERY kid-friendly but even more than that, family-friendly! My husband and I love spending time with our boys and doing things together as a family, and we loved that we could spend time together and have some alone couple time as well! Perfect for all vacation styles!
(Disclaimer: This photo was taken at 3:45pm after an intense family scavenger hunt and NO NAPS!)
Disclosure: Our family received a weekend at Moody Gardens, VIP passes to all the tourist spots in Galveston, and a tour of the Carnival Magic in return for our attendance and social sharing.
