Make Your Own Potato Stamps

You and your kids will have a blast with this quick, inexpensive, craft idea! It is a great activity for any time of year and can be used to make gift wrap for any holiday!

Materials: potato, cookie cutters, paper, paint, paper plate

1. Cut a potato in half.

2. Insert a cookie cutter into one half of the potato. Press firmly until it is inserted almost completely into the potato half.

3. Take a kitchen knife and cut a thin layer off of the potato; be sure to cut only until you hit the cookie cutter around the potato.

4. Remove the cookie cutter and the thin layer of potato.

5. Finally provide a single color of paint on a paper plate and paper for your child to decorate with their new stamp!

(*Note: Only use one color per potato half if you want pure colors, because the colors do not wash off the potato well.)

Please share how you and your kids use the potato stamps; I’d love to hear more ideas! :)
