Puppy Chow-Original Recipe

Some call it Puppy Chow, others call it Muddy Buddies, but it’s all the same deliciousness! I grew up calling it Puppy Chow and was shocked to see that Chex Mix actually sells it in stores now! While the store brand is more convenient, the taste can’t compare to homemade. I recently made this for my husband’s summer mission trip debrief for a  group of teenagers. As the night ended they began asking if they could take some home with them! I was happy to give it all away, as that meant less of this incredibly addicting dessert would be lying around our home… I also knew my husband and… I watched my husband secretly store some away for us!

 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of chocolate chips
  • 1 cup of peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup of margarine
  • 7 1/2 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • Powdered Sugar

Directions:

1. Melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter and margarine together.

2. Pour Rice Chex into a double layered brown paper bag. Next, pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal. Fold the top of the bag down and shake/stir until all the cereal is coated. Allow to cool for 3 minutes.

3. Sprinkle powdered sugar over the cereal and shake well. Add more if needed and re-shake until all the cereal is coated in white.
