DIY Boo-Boo Bunnies

“I’m ok Momma, but I think I need my Boo Bunny!” my son yells to me as he picks himself up of the living room floor, after walking into the corner for the couch (for the fifth time). We are still working with him on the idea of keeping his eyes forward while moving… until then our Boo-Boo Bunny will continue to get A LOT of use! Our one year old’s fearless spirit will also beckon the use of our Boo-Boo Bunny as well.

I received our Boo-Boo Bunny, which our family affectionately refers to as our “Boo Bunny,” during a baby shower while pregnant with my first son. Since then, I have not seen them very often but it remains “one of the most useful gifts” that I received. I love how it serves the purpose of a cold ice pack, but with a cute soft comforting appearance. Most recently, I ran across a short tutorial on how to make your own Boo-Boo Bunny on about.com. What a cute and easy gift to make for an infant or toddler’s Easter basket, a Christmas stocking stuffer, a baby shower gift, a baby shower decoration, a present decoration, etc. There are so many uses for these cute little guys!

Materials

Directions

1. Begin with your washcloth opened and laying with the front facing down.

2. Fold the top corner down to the bottom, so that they are together creating a triangle.

3. Begin rolling the washcloth from the bottom point up toward the fold.

4. Next, take the washcloth “roll,” and fold it in half.

5. Using your fingers, pinch the “folded roll” in the middle.

6. Fold in half again.

7. Place a rubber band about 1/3 of the way back to create the bunny’s head.

8. Finally, pull the ears apart to separate.

9. Glue on the eyes, nose, and cover the rubber band with a ribbon.

10. Place a re-useable ice-cube in the body of the bunny, and glue the cotton ball on the back for the tail.

What a great idea! My little girls are always getting little owies that need plenty of sympathy. I’m guessing a kiss from a sweet little bunny would help a lot!
